Golden Hour Magic: A Perfect Autumn Family Photoshoot at Frensham Ponds, Surrey
By Andrew Dawson Photography | Surrey Family Photographer
As a Surrey family photographer, I'm fortunate to capture precious family moments in some of the most stunning locations across our beautiful county. This autumn, I had the absolute pleasure of photographing a wonderful family at Frensham Ponds, and I couldn't wait to share why this location has become one of my favourite spots for Frensham Pond family photography sessions in Surrey.
Why Frensham Ponds is Perfect for Family Photography
The Autumn Spectacle at Frensham Great Pond and Little Pond
This particular October morning was nothing short of magical. The sun painted golden streaks across the water while the magnificent autumn colours created a natural backdrop that no studio could ever replicate. Frensham Ponds consists of two large ponds, Frensham Great Pond and Frensham Little Pond, which were built in the Middle Ages to provide fish for the Bishop of Winchester's estate.
As an experienced family photographer in Surrey, I've discovered that both ponds offer unique opportunities:
Frensham Great Pond: With its sandy beach and open heathland, perfect for playful, energetic family shots
Frensham Little Pond: More intimate woodland settings ideal for quieter, contemplative portraits
The autumn colours this season were absolutely spectacular — from burnt oranges and deep crimsons to golden yellows, creating a stunning natural canvas for our family portraits.
